Who We Are
Heather DeMarie started the business back in 2003 when she transplanted from Northern Virginia. In the early years, she worked by herself providing her small clientele with reliable, detailed service. Over time the company grew through ‘word of mouth’ and referrals from her best clients. Today Heather is proud to work alongside her experienced team of 25+ cleaners, to consistently provide high-quality service to over 500 clients here in Sussex. Ensuring that the teams have been properly trained, and receive ongoing education in the latest techniques, supplies, and approaches is our #1 priority. We are a diverse team, from all walks of life, but everyone here is committed to getting done right the first time and in the most pleasant and efficient manner possible.
As a company, we strive to provide a work environment that makes our team members feel empowered and valued for their individual contributions. Throughout the year we provide opportunities for our team to experience personal growth, get new education/training, volunteer in the community and expand their personal horizons.
Community Service
We love the people we serve and we are dedicated to being a responsible local business. Each year we look for opportunities for our team to Through our ‘hands on’ volunteer efforts as well as financial support, we are committed to finding ways we can ‘give back’ to our friends and neighbors. Over the last 16 years we have participated in or raised funds for numerous organizations, some of which include:
- Cleaning For a Reason – serving the local cancer community
- The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition – serving the local cancer community
- Santa’s Letters – Today, each child/adult who places a letter in the big red mailbox receives a letter back from Santa. In addition to a merry greeting, Santa’s Letters helps those in need, whether it be a warm coat, Christmas dinner, or just an overflowing Christmas stocking under the tree. Helping our community has become our mission.
- Dewey Goes Pink 5K Run/Walk – serving the local cancer community
- The Bethany-Fenwick Chamber – Fall Arts Festival – promoting the Arts in local schools
- Center for the Inland Bays – providing education to the public about our DE waterways
- Ball 4 All Foundation – Providing youth athletic scholarships for fees and equipment associated with youth sports as well as offering free sports camps for kids.

Spotlight On: Cleaning For A Reason
Cleaning For A Reason is a nationwide non-profit program that offers free professional house cleaning services as they are undergoing treatment for cancer. Every year our team at Heather Home Works has the opportunity to help 16 amazing and strong women as they battle through the fight of their life. Although what we do is only a small contribution, we love seeing the smiles on these women’s faces when they realize they can focus on their health and recovery, instead of on their housework.
